How to treat acne

Beautiful skin as a reward for patience

Acne is an annoying problem, but it is not unsolvable. The key to success is regular care, the right choice of cosmetics and a healthy lifestyle. Remember that everyone's skin is different, so it may take some time to find what works for you.

  1. Proper skin care as a foundation

Whether your skin is oily, combination or dry, the key to taming acne is a proper skin care routine. Many people think that the more products they use, the better, but the opposite is true. Skin needs regular but gentle care.

What should your routine look like?

  1. Cleaning
Thorough cleansing is the alpha and omega of any routine. Morning and night, you should use a gentle cleansing gel or foam to remove dirt, excess sebum and makeup residue. Avoid aggressive products containing alcohol, which can dry out the skin and trigger even more sebum production.
Recommended ingredients: salicylic acid, tea tree oil or green tea.
  2. Hydration
Even oily skin needs hydration. Without it, the sebaceous glands try to replace the loss of moisture with increased sebum production, which leads to clogged pores. Choose light creams containing niacinamide, hyaluronic acid or aloe vera.
  3. Sun protection
The sun can aggravate acne and contribute to the formation of pigment spots. Therefore, never forget sunscreen with SPF 30 or more. Choose light gels or fluids that won't weigh down the skin.

  1. Actives: the hidden treasure in the fight against acne

Modern cosmetics offer a variety of actives that can not only relieve acne but also prevent its return. These ingredients target specific skin problems - from regulating sebum to calming inflammation.

The most effective actives:

  • Salicylic Acid
This is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that penetrates deep into the pores, where it dissolves sebum and impurities. It is good for preventing blackheads and reducing inflammation.
  • Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)
This versatile helper has anti-inflammatory properties, helps regulate sebum production and lightens pigment spots. Plus, it is gentle and suitable for sensitive skin.
    • Retinoids
Retinol, tretinoin or adapalene are vitamin A derivatives that increase skin cell renewal and prevent pore clogging. However, their use requires patience - results usually come after a few weeks.

Tip: Introduce the active ingredients gradually, starting with lower concentrations. This will avoid skin irritation.

  • Acne breakouts? Better not...

Many people make mistakes in skin care that only make acne worse. What are the most common ones?

    • Excessive cleansing: Do you cleanse your skin several times a day? This can disrupt its natural protective barrier and increase sebum production.
    • Using inappropriate products: Oil-based creams, thick makeup or scrubs with large grains can irritate the skin.
    • Squeezing acne: Squeezing leads to the spread of bacteria and inflammation, which can cause scarring.

Be gentle with your skin and give it time to recover.
